Description:
Usually a small tree to medium-sized tree. Leaves alternate, elliptic-ovate or elliptic-lanceolate, broadly tapering, bright or dark green above, paler below with a few scattered gland dots and minute domatia in the axils of the veins; margins entire somewhat rolled under; petiole reddish. Flowers unisexual on different trees, male flowers, pinkish in small catkin-like spikes; female flowers solitary, green. Fruit sub-orbicular or heart-shaped, flat, almost completely surrounded by a wing, emarginate at the apex, rose-red, streaked with yellow or green.
