Erect herb 50–100 cm high with rounded-quadrangular, roughly hairy stems. Leaves opposite, linear-lanceolate to lanceolate, 3–11 mm long, stiff, 3-veined with veins deeply impressed; margin coarsely toothed, roughly scabrid. Inflorescence a very dense terminal spike, 3–10 cm long or up to 15 cm long in fruit, glandular-hairy. Bracteoles broadly ovate, 4–6 mm long. Calyx 5-toothed, 10-veined. Corolla white with a yellow throat; tube c. 2 cm long, densely white-hairy in the upper half; lobes broadly obovate, rounded, 6–9 mm long, more or less hairy outside. Capsules 8 x 4 mm, styles persistent. |
