Moderately sized aquatic herb with elongate rhizome 1-2 cm thick. Leaves chartaceous, orbicular or suborbicular, 3-13 x 3-12 cm, incised-cordate, peltate, lobes obtuse or rounded, nearly closed or divergent, smooth on both surfaces, green or reddish beneath, primary lateral nerves 6-7 on each side of the midrib, impressed. Flowers yellow, 4-8 cm in diameter. Sepals 4, ovate-lanceolate, 2.5-5 x 0.8-1.6 cm. Petals 8-14, oblong-lanceolate, as long as the sepals, obtuse or acute. Stamens 30–50. Fruit subglobose, 2 x 2-6 cm. Carpels 12-16. |
