Rhizome climbing; rhizome scales matt, peltate at the base, margins with extensions, cells with red walls, very narrow, clear. Young sterile fronds simple, lanceolate in outline, c. 10 cm long or trifoliate. Adult fronds imparipinnate. Stipe strawcoloured, 15 cm long, with scales at the base, grooved. Lamina subcoriaceous, pinnate. Pinnae 7-9 pairs, 10 x 3-3.5 cm, alternate, articulated (lower pinnae), elliptic in outline, base closely wedge-shaped, apex abruptly mucronate, caudate; veins simple or forked. Rhachis grooved, not winged. Fertile pinnae shortly petiolate, apex abruptly ending in a sterile, long tail-like tip, c. 5 mm long. |
