Rhizome used for support, reaching up to 2 m; rhizome scales lanceolate in outline, narrow, brownish red, formed of elongated cells. Sterile fronds imparipinnate, subcoracious. Stipe 4-9 cm, strawcoloured, grooved, with scales, winged in young fronds. Lamina 15-20 x 3-5 cm, c. 24 pairs of laterale pinnae; pinnae c. 8 x 2 cm, oblong in outline, base equal, rounded or truncate, apex acute, veins simples; lower pinnae not or hardly reduced; terminal pinna lanceolate in outline. Rhachis flattened, winged in young plants, loosely scaly. Fertile fronds slightly smaller than sterile fronds; lamina with narrow pinnae, oblong in outline, with a cordate base. |
