Hexasepalum Bartl. ex DC.

Description of the genus

Annual or perennial herbs; stems 4-angled. Stipules fimbriate. Leaves opposite. Flowers borne in small axillary clusters. Calyx 2-4(-6)-lobed. Corolla tube funnel-shaped; lobes 4 (-6). Stamens 4, exserted. Ovary 2(-4)-locular. Fruit of 2 (-4) indehiscent cocci.
Very similar to Spermacoce.

Comment: The African species previously have been placed in Diodia and Diodella.

Worldwide: 15 species in North, Central and South America and Africa.
